Executive Positions

The Energy Club at Georgia Tech is dedicated to bringing together different viewpoints on energy as well as the social, economic and political factors that comprise the issue. We are a diverse group made up of technical and non-technical members from different fields of study spanning from first year undergraduates to fifth year doctoral students.

Jason Hirschey

Jason Hirschey

President

Jason Hirschey is a self-proclaimed "energy nerd." When not learning about energy, he enjoys doing everything DIY-style from car repair to sewing. Jason is passionate about the changing the energy landscape and wants to fight for the continued implementation of renewable energy across the world.

Bryan Hare

Bryan Hare

Vice President of Professional Events

Bryan Hare is a chemical engineering Ph.D. student currently working on the conversion of biomass derivatives into hydrogen. His other energy interests include synthetic fuels and carbon dioxide utilization while his hobbies encompass various activities from acting to whiskey connoisseuring. Bryan wants to advocate energy efficient practices and growing support for renewable alternative sources.

Matt Warner

Matt Warner

Vice President of Student Events

Matt Warner is a 4th year chemical engineering PhD Student (edit to Candidate after July 14th) currently cracking the mystery as to why microwave heating enhances thermosetting epoxy curing rates. Previous research projects include engineering rapidly degradable materials, optimizing solar cell materials, and solar hydrogen production. When Matt is not in the lab, he is improving his singing and electric guitar skills. He wants to help work towards a future powered entirely by renewables.

Jacqueline Glazer

Jacqueline Glazer

Treasurer

Jacqueline is a second year undergraduate chemical & biomolecular engineering major. She works in a lab that does research on battery technologies and she is super passionate about sustainability. In her time, she loves exercising (particularly ice skating and boxing), cooking, and hanging out with friends. Some other clubs that Jacqueline is involved in are ChBE Student Ambassadors, the ChBE Peer Mentoring Program, Boxing Club, and AIChE.

Azell Francis

Azell Francis

Corporate Relations Chair & Energy Conference Co-Chair

Azell Francis is a 5th year PhD in International Affairs, Science and Technology with a focus on Energy and Sustainable Development. With a B.S in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S in Applied Engineering: Engineering Management, Azell considers herself to be a connector- able to bridge the gap between the technical and policy sides of energy. Azell looks forward to graduating and hopes to make an impact in the consulting space.

Minsoo Kang

Minsoo Kang

Business Fair Chair

Minsoo Kang is a 1st year Ph.D. Student in Materials Science and Engineering. He already finished BS, and MS and currently studying for a Ph.D. degree so that he plans to gain triple degrees at Georgia Tech. His field of research is energy conversion and currently working on metal and metal oxide-based electrocatalysts for Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers. The field of research motivated him to join this energy club. In the future, he would like to work for the energy industry as an engineer. Other than research, he enjoys swimming in CRC for stress management.

Austin Fan

Austin Fan

Projects and Competitions Chair

Austin is a 3rd year Chemical Engineering Major looking to minor in energy systems. But when he’s not in the classroom, you can catch him playing frisbee with friends or cooking up random foods. Ultimately, his goal is to do whatever he can to advance sustainable technology in the world.

Brad Houska

Brad Houska

Energy Conference Co-Chair

Brad Houska is a 2nd year Electrical Engineering PhD student. His research interests are wide bandgap power electronics and renewable energy integration. During his free time, Brad is an avid runner & mountain biker. His favorite in-Atlanta running route is the Piedmont Park lake loop.

Conner Rudzinski

Conner Rudzinski

Outreach Co-Chair

Conner Rudzinski is a 4th year Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering undergraduate student. After graduation, he wants to work in the energy field towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. In his free time, he enjoys a good run around midtown, or a workout session in the CRC.

Nicolas San Miguel

Nicolas San Miguel

Outreach Co-Chair and Webmaster

Nicolas is a 4th year undergraduate Aerospace Engineering student with an Energy Systems Minor. After graduating he plans to pursue a career researching electric aircraft propulsion. Outside of the lab, Nicolas enjoys making ghost pepper hot sauces with his roommates.

Andrew Mulia

Andrew Mulia

Communications & Graphic Design Chair

Andrew is a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student. He’s really passionate about sustainability and is currently exploring what he wants to focus on in the field. When not working, you can find him doing anything from learning salsa dancing to trying to convince people that flamin’ hot Cheetos are the best snack. His life goal is to help work towards a future where we actually survive climate change.

Julian Powell

Julian Powell

Webmaster

Julian is a part time candidate for the Master of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Management in the School of Public Policy. He earned his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1983. He worked in the electronics manufacturing industry for many years which inspired him to build one of the first electronics recycling companies in Atlanta. He has been shifting his focus to energy over the last 15 years. He is particularly interested in energy storage, both electrical and thermal. In his spare time he enjoys getting out into nature and tinkering with his next solar power project.
